About Me

One of my favorite quotes of all time is, "Life's what happens when you're busy making other plans." by John Lennon. This particular quote has always been so very poignant to me because I once had the perfect plan for my life, and like life often tends to do, I was lead down many different routes instead.

I started college right after high school, because that's just what you do, right? I began my college career at a local community college majoring in Communications. My intent was to explore journalism, as writing has always been a passion of mine. Unfortunately in the college I chose to attend, the Communications program focused predominantly on broadcast journalism, which I had very little interest in. When I decided to move to a state university, I chose to major in English instead, figuring I would be able to utilize that degree in some way to become a professional writer. However, a few years into my program I decided to shift gears and focus on becoming an elementary teacher. I was that kid who played "school" and actually pretended to grade papers. It just felt like I was being pulled into the education world, but being so far into my English program, I decided to finish my Bachelors degree and then continue in a program to received my elementary education certification, which I did a few years later.

My professional years following college can only be described as "what a long, strange trip it's been." I dabbled in education jobs, from being a preschool teacher (which I LOVED), to teaching upper elementary at a private school. I held other varying positions such as a Family-Based Therapist, a director of a day care, a Parent-Educator and most recently as a Leisure Coordinator at a senior community. To say I have a multitude of professional experiences under my belt would be a huge understatement. However, my most cherished position I've held over the years was by far my time as a stay-at-home mom.

Over the past year, I have felt an immense draw toward writing once again. I have always been passionate about writing and it comes very easily to me, but I've found that often I have not had the time nor the clarity of mind to aspire to be a writer on a professional level. With the introduction of COVID in 2020, I had several epiphanies which lead to my utilization of writing as a form of therapy for myself. It has been over this past year that I have not only found myself writing far more often, but that I have also started sharing my writing with other people. I had a bit of a traumatic experience in a creative writing course in college when a piece I wrote was basically torn apart by classmates and I was understandably gun-shy after that to share my writing. However, there is something about being in your forties that basically produces an "I don't care what other people think" persona, that I have used to my benefit.

So, here I am. You can expect to find anything related to being a mom of boys, all things artsy, and probably some wildly random things as well. What you will not find is political rants, or very few about current events of our world as I try my very hardest to refrain from voicing my opinion on those topics (I try, although sometimes it may happen.) I hope you'll follow me down the rabbit hole to a world of complete and utter "anything goes."
